why see things as they are when you can believe whatever you want to?

scribbles

so i was sorting though my notebooks from this term and tore out all the poems and songs i wrote during class. when i'm bored i like to make pretty words rhyme. and sometimes i just like to find ways to say new things with old words. sometimes there is music, too. see, i'm always having songs start playing in my head while busy trying to copy down the jewels of wisdom falling from the lips of my professors. i just have to write down before they go playing away and i loose them. it does make me sad that i can't write down tunes, but usually i can capture most of the words that aren't too misty and obscure. i thought i might copy a few down here. please don't laugh when they are gay. p.s. don't be disturbed by any lonely-sounding stuff. i'm really not depressed, i just like melancholy art.

---

i forgot to tell you
i forgot to tell you
how in love i am
i forgot to tell you
i forgot to tell you
you were what i breathed

and now you live away from me
and i die away from you
i'm in love alone
and i forgot to tell you

that i loved your hands
i lived in your eyes
when you spoke my heart
came alive

i forgot to tell you...

every night i'd sleep
every day i'd rise
in my heart always you
on my eyes

and i forgot to tell you
i forgot to tell you
--
a long and lonely highway
always fading out of sight
nothing better's out there
so i just keep walking into the night

what am i really living for?
am i empty or in pain?
alot of nothing comes and goes
please someone tell me where i am

is there a difference between numbness
and cracked and bleeding pain?
is there a difference between dying
and waking up again?
--
love through me
love of God
until i only be
the clear glass
through which you pass
for prism colors see

be the love in me oh God
all i am and can be
the good hinders the best
that you want of me
so how i long for emptiness
to be filled as thee
--
and i cry cry cry
tears fall down like stars
maybe i'll give up
love flows down like pain

because i'm broken
how can i go on?
because i'm shattered
i can't move!

is there a hand to hold me?
won't someone life me up?
broken, lying, helpless...
what would heal my pain?

and then i hear a sound cutting through my pain
maybe i will see the sun again...

Someone cries cries cries
tears fall down through stars
never gives me up
loves flows through my pain...

What type of music comes with these words? A single voice crying over a simple guitar? A huge chorus of light voices and full, varied instrumentation?

Have you ever heard the song, "Just chill"... it's playing right now in the internet cafe, and you'r not missing much!:) I love and miss you! Blessings to you!

Hugs,

it's different for every song, toby. sometimes there's a full band--guitar riffs, backup vocals and everything--and sometimes it's a lone vocal and guitar, like you said. the music style depends on the depends on the style of the song.

Tirzah Grace,
I finally must voice a protest about your very grammatically and socially incorrect usage of the term "gay" and/or "homosexual." "Gay" only connotes abnormality or inferiority when used by persons who are politicaly on the far right politically, provincially-minded and unsophisticated; in other words, white trash, a group in which I certainly do not generally think you would identify with. So what's the deal? You know better.

and don't eat raw hot dogs---white trash does that too!

if you eat raw hot dogs, you will marry a hairdresser, and spend your life with a six-pack of beer and a bag of potato chips, sitting in front of a tv. or, if you are provincally minded.

i must admit, debbi, i stand corrected and rebuked. after submitting myself the forty lashes with a wet noodle, i feel i properly atoned and i shall henceforth and forever never use "homosexual" in a derogatory sense again.

Using homosexuality as an insult is gay.

You need to teach us some songs that are written by you. Songs written by people I know are way so much cooler than songs written by weird famous people. I don't think we can have a full chorus one, but Tommy can play percusion, I play guitar, Erin can play pretty much anything...
